IALI INDIA CENTER DREAM, IS NOW A HISTORIC REALITY
India Association of Long Island (IALI) has now a Home and the long cherished dream of the Indian Community and the past presidents for almost four decades became a reality on Monday Morning Dec 22, 2014, when IALI closed on the property ideally located on Old Country Road in Hicksville Long Island, the hub of growing Indian Community in Long Island at 92 East, Old Country Road. The Indian Community in the tri State area can now be proud to finally own the India Center, it has been dreaming about for a long time and become a part of this historic event.
Immediately after buying the property for India Center, we promptly applied for property tax exemption. We not only received Property tax, School Tax and Village Tax exemption going forward, we received it retroactively from Day 1, as IALI is a Not for profit entity.
This dream was realized under the leadership of Mr. Satnam Parhar, as President and Mr. Gobind Munjal, as Chairperson of the IALI India Center, with the cooperation of the Executive Council and the Past Presidents. Mr. Satnam Parhar’s vision to start small and his determination to own the IALI Home during his term as President, along with Mr. Gobind Munjal’s long standing commitment towards realizing this dream of owning India Center for IALI and the whole Indian Community gave impetus to this project.
Thank you to India Center Committee and each and every member of the executive council member and past presidents for their support and guidance, without which this long eluded dream of owning India Center could not have become a reality. Sincere thanks to the Past Presidents, EC and India Center Committee members and others, who have donated generously towards the purchase of India Center building. Now we have to nurture this IALI India Center and make it bigger and better for our younger generation and leave a legacy for the generations to come.
The property was renovated under the presidency of Beena Kothari in 2016, since than many programs are being held at the center for the members and the community. We invite you to come and visit your own IALI Center.
